Glæd dig til en aften i selskab med en af vor tids mest skarpe og toneangivende forfattere, når britiske Zadie Smith indtager scenen scenen i Den Sorte Diamant. På Lyngby Stadsbiblioteket streamer vi interviewet direkte.

Zadie Smith skriver skarpt og humoristisk om multikulturelle miljøer, hvor identitet formes af race, klasse og oprindelse. Hun kobler personlige erfaringer til bred samfundskritik – fra det britiske klassesystem til, hvordan vi har overladt så store dele af vores identitet og adfærd til sociale medier og de bagvedliggende, magtfulde techgiganter.

Anledningen er, at hun modtager H.C. Andersens Litteraturpris 2026, og derfor er på et af sine sjældne besøg i Danmark. Siden debuten med Hvide tænder i 2000 har Zadie Smith sat et markant aftryk på den internationale litterære scene.

Vi starter kl. 18.30 med et særligt oplæg om forfatterskabet med en af Lyngby Stadsbiblioteks litteraturformidlere, som også vil komme med Zadie-læseanbefalinger.

Join us for an evening with of one of today’s most influential writers, as British author Zadie Smith takes to the stage at The Black Diamond in Copenhagen. At Lyngby City Library, we will be streaming the interview live.

Zadie Smith writes with sharpness and humour about multicultural environments, where identity is shaped by race, class and heritage. She connects personal experiences with broader social critique – from the British class system to the ways in which we have handed over so much of our identity and behaviour to social media and the powerful tech giants behind it.

Zadie Smith is receiving the 2026 H.C. Andersen Literature Award, which brings her to Denmark for one of her rare visits. Since making her debut with White Teeth in 2000, Zadie Smith has left a distinctive mark on the international literary scene.

The event begins at 6:30 pm with an introduction to her work by one of Lyngby City Library’s literature specialists. This presentation is in Danish so feel free to join from 7 PM for the live-stream in English.
